Pouring most of your remaining budget into a premium minion weapon can buy surprisingly little progress if its improvements miss your main damage source. Before committing more Path of Exile 2 Currency to another expensive upgrade, check whether your commands deserve that investment instead. Xipocado's Soul Core of Dominion is worth evaluating when commanded attacks, rather than ordinary minion swings, decide your hardest encounters.

Buy Damage Your Rotation Actually Uses

Xipocado's Soul Core of Dominion requires level 50, is limited to one, and grants 40% increased Damage with Command Skills for Minions when socketed into a Wand, Staff, or Sceptre. That wording defines its limits: it does not improve every attack your minions perform.

Increased damage also should not be read as a separate 40% multiplier. For illustration, if a qualifying attack already has 200% increased damage from applicable modifiers, adding another 40 percentage points takes its damage factor from three to three point four. That is roughly thirteen percent more damage for that attack, not forty percent more total build damage.

The Overlooked Upgrade Is Command Specialization

The niche option here is not an entirely different summoner build. It is retaining a serviceable weapon and specializing its socket around commands. Broad minion bonuses look more attractive in equipment comparisons because their benefits are easier to understand without examining a rotation.

This approach deserves its closest inspection after level 50, when commands already contribute meaningful damage but replacing your weapon would consume resources needed elsewhere. It suits budget players whose ordinary clearing feels adequate while tougher enemies expose weak command damage.

Its less obvious value is preserving equipment continuity. Keeping a weapon that already meets your requirements avoids rebuilding other equipment choices merely to accommodate a replacement. That convenience matters only if the command bonus delivers measurable results.

Keep the Weapon or Replace It

Compare the complete upgrade, not one impressive modifier. A broader weapon improvement wins when it strengthens more of your actual damage or fixes an essential requirement.

ChoiceBest FitMain Limitation
Command focused socketFrequent command usersNarrow damage coverage
Broader weapon upgradePassive attack buildsPotentially larger investment
Keep current equipmentComfortable progressionNo immediate damage gain
For a command focused character with a sound weapon, test the Soul Core first. For a passive summoner, prioritize improvements that affect ordinary attacks. If neither route changes what you can complete efficiently, saving resources is the stronger decision.

Test Against Your Actual Farming Route

A shorter boss encounter does not automatically improve an entire farming session. Travel, ordinary enemies, and preparation can absorb most of your time. Measure the activity you intend to repeat rather than selecting a target that flatters the upgrade.

Repeat the same encounter with unchanged minions, supports, and command timing.
Compare several attempts so positioning differences do not determine your verdict.
Record full completion time alongside the time spent fighting tougher enemies.
Check the current socket contribution before paying to replace it.

Let Endgame Plans Set the Spending Limit

The Soul Core retains value only while commands remain central to your build. A later shift toward passive damage can make yesterday's efficient purchase irrelevant. Whether your budget comes from farming or you are considering POE 2 Chaos Orbs for sale, set the same spending limit: pay for a demonstrated improvement, not a percentage that looks powerful in isolation.
